Condensation dampness
in Catalonia

We identified the source of the condensation and improved the thermal performance of the home to reduce the appearance of dampness, stains and mold.

Condensation dampness

Less condensation,
more comfort in your home

Condensation occurs when humid indoor air comes into contact with cold surfaces.

At Torregra we study what is contributing to the problem and, when it is related to insufficient insulation, we take action by improving the thermal envelope of the home.

Previous diagnosis

We check the source of the moisture before intervening.

Thermal insulation

We improve cold enclosures when insulation is part of the problem.

Without great works

We apply minimally invasive solutions whenever the property allows it.

Service in Catalonia

Based in Viladecans and travel throughout Catalonia.

What is condensation?

Condensation occurs when water vapor present in the environment comes into contact with sufficiently cold surfaces and changes to a liquid state.

It usually appears on walls, corners and other areas where there is a significant temperature difference.

Instructions

Common signs of condensation

There is no single symptom, nor does it affect all homes in the same way. Its appearance depends on the level of ambient humidity, the ventilation of each room, and the coldest areas of the home.

These are some of the common signs that will help you detect it:

Assessment

Why does it appear?

Condensation is favored when high indoor humidity coincides with low surface temperatures. Poor insulation can cool walls and ceilings, increasing the risk of water vapor condensing on them.

Before applying a solution, it is also important to assess ventilation, thermal bridges, indoor humidity, and the characteristics of the building envelope.

How do we solve it
in Torregra?

Before intervening, we analyze the characteristics of the building envelope to determine the most suitable solution for each home or building.

When the diagnosis confirms that condensation is related to cold walls and a lack of insulation, we improve the thermal envelope using blown-in insulation.

01. Diagnosis

We analyzed the affected areas and checked the enclosure.

02. Inspection

We use an endoscopic camera when necessary to study the air chamber.

03. Insulation

We inject the appropriate material into the areas that require it.

04. Finish

We seal the access points with putty or mortar, depending on the area of intervention.

Why Torregra?

Request a diagnosis

Not all dampness has the same origin.

At Torregra, we analyze the problem before recommending any intervention and differentiate between condensation, capillary action, leaks, or other pathologies in order to propose the appropriate solution.

Less condensation, more comfort

Blown-in insulation to prevent condensation

Improving insulation can raise the surface temperature of walls and ceilings and reduce the temperature difference that promotes condensation.

At Torregra we select the material and the solution according to the real characteristics of each home.

What happens if it is not treated?

If humidity persists over time, it can affect both the finish of the house and the interior comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is condensation the same as rising damp?

No. Condensation occurs when water vapor in the air comes into contact with cold surfaces. Capillary action occurs when water rises from the ground through walls. They require different diagnoses and treatments.

Ventilation helps reduce indoor humidity, but it may not be enough if there are very cold surfaces, thermal bridges, or poor insulation. The overall problem needs to be assessed.

Not in all cases. It can be a very effective solution when the problem is related to cold walls and lack of insulation, but first the cause of the dampness must be confirmed.

In many homes, an insulated insulation intervention can be carried out in one day, although the time depends on the surface area and characteristics of the property.

Improving insulation can reduce the conditions that favor mold growth if the problem is related to condensation on cold surfaces. Cleaning or treating existing mold should be assessed separately.

The location and evolution of the stains can provide clues, but different pathologies can present similar symptoms. Therefore, we recommend a diagnosis before applying paints or surface treatments.

Do you have damp or mold stains?

We study the origin of the problem to find out if it is condensation and determine what solution your home really needs.
